Dear Faith Family,
The city of Stillwater recently released a statement asking faith-based groups to partner with them by suspending large group gatherings. After discussion among the Elders, we have decided to submit to the request of the leadership of the city of Stillwater in accordance with what God’s Word teaches in Romans 13:1-7. Several other like-minded churches are doing the same.
This is not an easy decision. None of the Elders want to suspend our large group gatherings. When we gather it is a means of grace for saved followers of Christ by which God builds up His body according to His Word (Ephesians 4:11-16). But we also deeply care for the safety of our people, and we want to be good neighbors that help slow the spread of this virus that is harmful in many ways.
Therefore, we will temporarily suspend all large group gatherings until further notice as we assess the trajectory of this unique event. Please pray for us as we try to obey God’s Word and make wise decisions. Please pray that this is resolved soon.
To be clear, we will not physically meet on Sunday mornings or have events Wednesday evenings. However, we will have online options Sunday morning and Wednesday evening using Facebook. If you have not ‘liked’ our Eagle Heights Facebook Page, now is a good time to do that so you can have access to the live feeds: https://www.facebook.com/eagleheights/.
We will stream live at 10:30 am on Sunday. We will also record the singing and the sermon so it can be watched later. We encourage you to utilize this tool until we can resume face-to-face gathering. We are also introducing Wednesday Night Live, a brief (20-30 minute) worship time for all including singing and a message from Colossians.
We also want to encourage you to continue to give. You can either bring your worship through giving to the office, or you can use our online giving option: https://eagleheights.com/give.
Please don’t let this create a habit in your life of neglecting the things of God. Read God’s Word. Using wisdom, gather in small groups like 5Groups. Invite a brother or sister for coffee to read God’s Word together. There are ways for us to build each other up until this passes so that we avoid spiritual laziness.
Finally, if you have any questions, please let us know. We will be brainstorming in the days ahead about how to navigate this time, and we may make more resources available to you. For now, we regretfully will not be meeting together for Worship on Sundays, nor hosting Wednesday night activities.
For God’s Glory Together,
Pastor Brent and the Eagle Heights Elders
