TEACHING & BELIEFS

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

What do we teach and believe at Eagle Heights?

THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and it is the supreme standard by which all conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.
2 Tim. 3:14-17, 2 Pet. 1:19-21

THE TRUE GOD
We believe there is one and only one living and true God. He is revealed to us in the Bible as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 11:6

JESUS CHRIST IS LORD
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ was, is, and evermore will be the eternal Son of God. He was with the Father & Holy Spirit in the beginning, came through a virgin birth as God in the flesh, lived a sinless life and died on the cross for the sins of mankind.

THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit, fully God, convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness and judgment. He unites believers to Jesus Christ in faith, brings about the new birth and dwells within the regenerate. He will lead the church into a right understanding and rich application of the truth of God’s Word for the glory of Christ.
Gal. 5:22-23, John 16:1-15

THE FALL OF MAN
We believe man was created by God.  Man by willful disobedience fell from a perfect state and are now sinners by nature and by choice.

SALVATION IS BY FAITH ALONE
We believe salvation is wholly and only through the grace of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Saved sinners are sustained and kept by the power of God.

JUSTIFICATION AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
We believe justification and righteousness are inseparably united in the Scriptures.  Justification is the judicial act of God declaring righteous one who believes in Jesus Christ.  A sinner is made righteous because Christ bore their sins.

REGENERATION
We believe to be saved one must be regenerate or 'born again.'  The agents in this new birth are the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. These two work together in the heart bringing conviction for sin and conversion from the old way of life to the new.

REPENTANCE
Repentance and faith are Scriptural necessities.
Rom. 10:13

SANCTIFICATION
The word "sanctification" means primarily to set apart anyone or anything wholly for God's use. Believers are being sanctified daily through the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and prayer.
2 Peter 1:3-5

THE PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS
All who have been truly saved and made new by the Holy Spirit of God will be faithful to Christ until death or until He returns. All true believers are kept by the power of God through faith.
James 1:12, 1 Cor. 15:2, Col. 1:21-23, 1 Peter 1:3-5

A LOCAL NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH
A local, visible, New Testament Church is a congregation of baptized believers joined by hope in the faith and togetherness in the Gospel.
Acts 2:41

THE UNIVERSAL BODY OF CHRIST
The New Testament refers to the universal body of Christ called the church.  It is made up of all who are saved.
Eph. 2:21-22, 5:30-31

MARRIAGE
Marriage is defined by God as the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is a unique gift from God meant to reveal the union between Christ and His church. The husband and wife serve one another in a complementarian relationship - the wife submitting to her husband and the husband loving his wife even to the point of death.
Gen. 1:27, 2:24, Eph. 5:21-33, Matt. 19:6

THE ORDINANCES
Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances of Christ given to the local church. Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water and is a public symbol and testimony.

THE SAVED AND UNSAVED
There is a difference between the saved and unsaved. Only those who are born again and justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ are righteous in God's sight.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus rose from the dead and because He lives, we too will live after death.

THE RETURN OF THE LORD
We believe in the imminent return of our Lord and that the time of His coming is nowhere revealed.
1 Cor. 15:51-53

THE ETERNAL STATE OF ALL SOULS
All who are saved by faith in Christ out of every age of time will live forever with Christ in a new Heaven and a new earth. Unbelieving people will spend eternity along with the Devil and his angels in hell.  Hell is a literal and eternal place.
Rev. 21:1, 20:15

CIVIL GOVERNMENT
Civil government is of divine appointment for the interest and good order of human society. We should pray for those in authority, honor and obey them, except in those things that are contrary to the Word of God.

CHURCH FINANCE
We are committed to a Debt Free Ministry.  God is our provider.
Prov. 22:7, 26, Luke 16:10, Matt. 6:19-20, 7:7-8, Mal. 3:8-11, Deut. 28:12, Phil. 4:19

STEWARDSHIP
God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual; all we have, and are, we owe to him.  Christians should contribute of their means cheerfully, regularly, and liberally for the advancement of the gospel.
Lev. 27:30-32, Deut. 8:18, Mal. 3:8-12, Matt. 6:1-4, 19-21, Rom. 12:1-2, 1 Cor. 4:1-2

Our teaching and beliefs are in accordance with and in affirmation of
